I was born in Portsmouth and grew up on the Seacoast. After graduating from UNH, I was lucky enough to fall backward into my field, and 18 years later, I couldn't imagine doing anything else! I love helping people navigate their career changes and job-hunting questions because we all deserve to enjoy what we do.

Why did you decide to join the Chamber?

I've always been involved with the Chamber in one way or another because I love getting to know all of the various business owners in our area.  About 5 or 6 years ago, I took advantage of their Sole Proprietor membership option, since that fits my business and budget perfectly.

What is a piece of advice you have for someone new to the Chamber or to networking?

Eat something, sip something, and just walk up to a stranger and say, "Hi, what brought you out today?" Listening is a great way to ease into networking. Also, tell someone who looks like a seasoned networker, "I'm new at this," and let them take you under their wing (they will). 

What is a connection you have made through the Chamber that has resulted in something further?

I remember meeting an HR leader at an event once. Not only did she bring me into her company to present to her teams, she also connected me with her son, who just graduated from college and needed some job search help. A year later, she was on my calendar, looking to make a change herself. That one connection continues to be multifaceted for me - and it all started with a casual conversation about our weekends over a shrimp platter.
